Easy DIY Lace Headband

I’m not going to lie; DIY is not my thing.  In fact, I am not a crafty person at all.  Any time I try to make a cute cut-off t-shirt, I end up jaggedly sawing off half a sleeve while the other sleeve remains intact.  Hand me a pair of scissors and I am bound to horribly mangle some poor fabric.  But I digress.  After I found this DIY from PS I Made This I decided to give making headbands a try.  Instead of braiding three different fabrics/materials together, I stuck with plain, simple, classy lace.  It turned out quite good, if I do say so myself!

What you need: [ + a needle and thread if you are going to sew the lace on! ]

Roughly measure a length of lace/whatever fabric/ribbon so it will fit snugly around your head plus an inch or so.  Snip off that length.  If you want to go the easy-but-still-effective route, tie the lace/ribbon onto the hairband.  Voila!
You could snip off the excess lace and be done with it!  If you tie it tightly, it should stay.

HOWEVER, if you are like me and want to test your seamstress limits [or are just good with a needle & thread], go ahead and sew on the lace.  This will ensure that it will stay on, and it looks a bit neater as well.
Simply encircle some lace onto the hairband and stitch it together with matching thread.  Easy, even for one as inept with a needle and thread as me!

Hipster Snakeskin

I admit it; sometimes I feel like a bit of a hipster.  I wore the above headband across my forehead once and was slightly embarrassed that I liked how it looked.  Of course, one little headband doesn’t a full-blown hipster make, but who knows.  Soon I may be donning long feather earrings, lumberjack plaid, and non-prescriptive glasses [just kidding about the glasses.  I wore non-prescription glasses from Claire’s in fifth grade thinking I was hot stuff, and by sixth grade I needed real glasses.  Never again!]  Have a lovely Tuesday everyone.

Pale Pink

As I stated in this post, pastels and I do not get along very well, and for good reason.  It just doesn’t flatter my olive-y skin tone.  In February I compromised by wearing minty pastel nails, which were on-trend but did not scream “I AM WEARING PASTELS!”  I decided to try pastel nails again with this pale pink shade, and I love it.  I really don’t even consider it a pastel… it is just a pretty pale pink that makes me look tan!  Definitely a win in my book.

[also, that gorgeous shimmery gold on my hand is a swatch of MAC Rubenesque, a makeup product I have been obsessed with for years now… you can probably see why from the stunning color!]

Polka Dots and Fishtails

There is something summery and unique about a tiny fishtail braid among loose waves…

This dress usually isn’t my style, but when I borrowed it from my mom and she insisted that I keep it, I couldn’t turn her down.  These flat sandals let the polka-dot pattern take center stage, but when worn with nude cork wedges and some bright accessories, this dress could be much more than just a preppy staple.

Breezy

It’s always so windy on days I wear dresses… just like it always rains when I wear white.  Such is life, I suppose.

May really flew by, didn’t it?  It’s almost summer.  Here’s to the month that is fading and the month that hasn’t quite begun.
